Here you’ll Know the shuttering in construction such as Footing, Slab, and Beam Shuttering Complete Process from Start to End and also know the shuttering cost.

Before that, you should know what shuttering is-

Shuttering- When fresh concrete is poured in a structural element, formwork (shuttering) is used to give temporary support until the concrete has set

The following are examples of types of formworks used in the structural part of the building such as foundations, columns, slabs, and walls:

  • Footing Forms – Formworks for foundation
  • Column Forms – Formwork for RCC Column construction
  • Beam Forms – Formwork for RCC Beam construction
  • Slab Forms – Formwork for construction of RCC Slabs

When you’ll go to the site as a Civil Engineer, you have to give the number of materials for the shuttering but before that, you should know the materials use in the Shuttering.

Now you’ll How to do all these.

Shuttering Procedure for Footing

As you Know Construction of the foundation is the First step.

The shape and size of the footing are determined by the type of structural member. As a result, the size and shape of the formwork are determined by the kind and dimensions of the footing.

Now Know the Following components used in the Shuttering Casting for the Footing-

Components of Footing Forms

Following components used in the Footing formwork

  • Wooden panel
  • Spreader
  • Wood pegs
  • Battens
  • Plywood panel
  • Wales

Shuttering Procedure for Column

Shuttering for a column is simple as compared to other Building structural elements.

Because of their small cross-section, enormous heights, and relatively high concrete placing rates, reinforced concrete column forms are vulnerable to lateral pressure.

As a result, the formwork must have tight joints and strong tie support.

Column Formwork consists of the following main components

  • Sheeting all around the column periphery
  • Side yokes and end yokes
  • Wedges, and
  • Bolts with washers.

The figure below is the detail of the formwork for a square column.

Shuttering Procedure for Slab

As you know, the slab is continuous over a number of beams. The slab is supported by 2.5-cm sheathing that runs parallel to the majority of the beams.

Normally, the sheathing is supported by wooden battens spaced appropriately between the beams.

The battens could also be propped up against the joists in the middle of the span to reduce deflection. 3 cm thick sheathing is employed in the side forms of the beam.

The beam form's bottom sheathing is around 5 to 7 cm thick.

Cost of Formwork

In construction, the cost of formwork is estimated to be 20 to 25% of the total cost of the project.

It is vital to design cost-effective types of formwork and mechanize their creation in order to lower the cost of formwork.
